On Time Over Budget
On Time Over Budget is a series of paintings developed while working in corporate finance, translating the intensity and pressure of the environment into a visual language of layered gesture and internal structure.
Working primarily in monochrome, the paintings reflect a tension between perceived binaries and the underlying complexity they attempt to contain. Marks accumulate into dense, interwoven fields, where patterns begin to form, dissolve, and re-emerge without fully stabilizing.
Drawing from systems of analysis and prediction—where information is reduced, modeled, and iterated—the work engages processes that seek clarity and control. Yet within the paintings, these systems remain unstable, exposing a friction between order and ambiguity, structure and lived experience. The result is a surface that resists resolution, where human presence persists within and against the systems that attempt to define it.
